FAQ
What is Jackola’s approach to new projects, what if I just have an idea?
We start with an initial discovery process when the ideas are lower risk and contain higher flexibility. As we work through the idea, we’ll tap into our unique multidisciplinary team to create real solutions to make your idea a reality.
How do you ensure a client-focused experience in your design process?
First, it’s all about keeping the client’s vision and their experience of the process at the forefront of every project
Second, we share the How We Work promise, what it means for each step of the process, and how it is taught to Project Managers and filters down to all levels of the company.
Why does early understanding of project constraints help a successful outcome?
Constraints encourage creativity. It helps everyone really focus on finding solutions that will work in the real world.
When we define the constraints right away in the exploration of a project idea, it helps create a more productive discovery to ensure we take less dead ends or explore options that have hidden/unknown costs.
By taking a multidisciplinary approach, we’re able to tap into expertise from a variety of project perspectives. Having a set of constraints clearly defined makes every discipline more productive in their collaboration.
Finally, designing with constraints in mind is what has lead us to having some of the best relationships with our partnering contractors. It helps us design projects where feasibility is pre-constructed into the design.
What technologies and tools does Jackola use in the design process?
Revit, Sketchup, AI, Lumion, Enscape, Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, Matterport, RISA-3D, cove.tool, Adobe Creative Suite, Bluebeam and more!
What is our process for keeping a project within budget and on schedule?
Communication! This is key to project management, and involves keeping the client close on project decisions and communicating the pros and cons of different project approaches, communicating jurisdiction timelines and requirements and clearly outlining schedule implications of design changes. Some cost changes will be outside control, particularly with supply chain issues, but keeping in close contact with contractors and suppliers keeps a pulse of what industries and materials are being impacted. With a stream of communication throughout, the budget and schedule can be kept aligned.
How do you handle changes or modifications requested during the project?
We believe it’s important to bring the client along throughout a project, accommodate necessary changes with smart, effective solutions, and ensure flexibility through client collaboration at every project stage.
Also, we never underestimate communication. Being brave enough to communicate issues and maintain a high level of transparency is key to handling any modifications that come up during a project, including advocating with City, County and State jurisdictions on the client’s behalf.
